My journey has always been about connecting purpose and performance

Over two decades in corporate leadership, I learned that the strongest strategies don’t start with profit margins - they start with people. I saw how communities and companies could thrive together when Corporate Social Responsibility was no longer treated as an afterthought, but as the way a company aligns its business strategy with the needs of its people, communities, and long-term performance - the operating system that makes everything work.

At Comcast, I had the privilege of leading one of the largest digital inclusion efforts in the country - initiatives that helped millions get connected, gain new skills, and unlock economic opportunity. Along the way, I worked with incredible teams who proved that when employees are invited to live their values, engagement soars and innovation follows.

But here’s what I also saw: many organizations still think of CSR as something you add on at the end - the frosting that makes you look good. The truth is, CSR is the cake. It’s the structure that holds the whole thing together.

That realization became a turning point. After years of building strategies inside large companies, I knew it was time to help more organizations bake purpose into their business from the start.

That’s how CSR Is the Cake™ was born - as a framework, a philosophy, and now a speaking and consulting practice designed to help leaders make purpose not just part of their story, but part of their strategy.

Because when you bake it in - when purpose becomes the recipe, not the decoration - you don’t just build a company that performs. You build one that lasts.

“When purpose is baked into strategy...
companies don’t just survive – they thrive.”
